Botox:

Botox injections are a safe and effective way to lessen the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines on the face. Botox is often used to soften forehead lines, crow’s feet around the eyes, and frown lines surrounding the mouth, and can also be applied as a treatment method for chronic migraine headaches and temporal mandibular joint pain (TMD).

Office Visit

At Vitalogy Healthcare your appointment time involves meeting with our board certified Nurse Practitioner (NP). Together you will put a plan together on the areas you are looking to improve with botox. Our NP will then go over her strategy to get you the best results. You will then discuss the after care for botox and book a follow up appointment for any touch-ups usually 2 to 3 weeks post treatment.

Uses and Lasting Effect

Botox is used for both cosmetic and medical treatment. Botox injections work by blocking the release of the chemical acetylcholine, thus paralyzing the muscles in the area. The paralysis usually begins to take effect between 24 hours to two weeks, with the effects of the injection lasting anywhere from three to six months, but this period can vary from person to person. Botox is not only a great way to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, but may help to prevent new wrinkles from forming as quickly. So it is important to continue follow-up care recommended every 3 to 6 months to ensure you’re getting the best results.

Botox Recovery:

Botox has minor side effects like swelling, bruising, and redness around the injection site. No down time is required for recovery. For those that are taking blood thinners or aspirin, bruising may perpetuate healing and temporarily pausing these medications may be in order as you recover.
